Child support

Child support is a tricky topic, especially when dealing with remarriage. Child support is given in order to make sure that the children are taken care of. Because Ex-spouses are able to remarry, this can become a little confusing. The question becomes: do you still have to pay child support if your Ex-wife has remarried?

Child support payments

A lot of times, the answer to this question is yes. In most cases, child support payments are given by one parent to the other on a monthly basis. These payments are usually paid until the time when your child reaches the age of 18 years old. Once your child reaches this age, you are no longer required to pay child support unless there is a special circumstance where it is required for medical reasons or some other reason that comes into play in these types of situations.

Things to consider

When considering this situation, there are many things that get taken into consideration before deciding whether or not you must continue paying child support. For example, if your Ex-wife receives alimony from her new husband then you might be required to continue paying child support even after she has remarried. It all depends on how the court interprets this type of situation and how they see that it affects your Ex-wife and your children.

Paying for Child Support

It's an unfortunate reality of divorce that it can leave one or both parties with a bitter taste in their mouths—and that the bitterness can take a long time to go away. It's hard not to be bitter when you have to pay child support for kids that aren't even yours, or when you have to pay good money out of your pocket so someone else can live comfortably.
